PnF - Changing Fates 12

Isabella couldn't believe in her eyes. She was mourning because of what her crush could be doing, yet right now, sitting right beside her was Phineas.
"Isabella, you okay?" Phineas asked worried, seeing that she was staring at him without blinking.
"Phineas…" she whispered. "Is that really you?"
"Why yes. Yes I am." replied the redhead smiling.
Without thinking, she jumped towards the redhead, hugging him tightly. After what seemed an eternity, she finally spoke. "I can't believe you would come here just to see me! I'm so happy!" suddenly, she broke the hug and stared at him with wide eyes. "But… How?"
Phineas raised an eyebrow. "How what?"
"How are you able to be here? No-one can get in here unless it has passed away." she looked to the halo over his head and covered her mouth. "Please…" she looked back at him, tears starting to form on her eyes. "Please don't tell me that you…"
Phineas looked up to see his halo. His eyes widened. "What?! No!" he looked back at the raven-haired girl. "No no. this is not what it looks like." he pointed to the halo. "This is just to blend myself in this place. I'm still well alive."
Isabella raised an eyebrow. "Then… how can you be in this place?"
"Mike helped me." replied Phineas. "He decided to help me after you came here."
Isabella looked around. "Then, where is he?"
"He had some other things to take care off. And he left me in charge of getting you."
Her eyes widened. She focused on Phineas. "Getting me?"
Phineas smiled. "Didn't you say that if a second chance appeared, you would take it without hesitating?"
She stared at Phineas in disbelief. "Are you saying that you and Mike came here to bring me back?"
"And I'm not going back without you." he added in a serious tone.
"Phineas…" Isabella got up and stepped back from the redhead, shaking her head. "What are you saying? I died. You saw that piece of metal right through my chest. I can't be brought back to life. It's impossible."
Phineas got up and approached her slowly. "I know." he looked at her in the eyes. "I was told that playing God has severe consequences." gently holds her hands. "What you said before was true. I didn't want to accept that you've passed away, so I was about to build a machine to bring you back. But…" looks to the side. "…without the soul that belonged with the body, there was the strong possibility to fail in bringing you back." looks again at the raven-haired girl. "I want to bring you back Isabella. Everyone is covering us for now but it's just a matter of time until our mothers found out what happened. Your body is being preserved until our return, in order to resurrect you!"
Isabella stared at the redhead in shock. "Phineas… you would do all this for me? But… why?"
Phineas mind raced, trying to find a suitable answer. Only one came into his mind. "Because I couldn't live without you."
Isabella was speechless when he said that. Phineas continued. "I know that I'm too oblivious to notice romance, yet when you enter the backyard, I'm always happy to hear your voice." Lowers his head and smiles sheepishly while scratching his ear. "I didn't know what it was at first, but I'm starting to understand it little by little. And you last words were what gave me the strength to come here. Because…" he swallowed and looked directly at her eyes. "I think… that I love you too."
If Isabella's eyes could widen even more, then she would have two dinner plates in the place of her eyes. She couldn't believe it. She was hearing directly from her crush that he loved her. And he wanted to be with her, no matter the circumstances. Tears started to form in her eyes "Phineas… I'm so happy to hear that." she lowered her head, the starting to fall. "But I can't come back. I've already crossed the Gates and there's no way for me to return. The Grim Reaper already took me." she looked at the redhead, her voice trembling. "There's no way that I can come back to life-"
"Don't say that!" Phineas grabbed her arms. "Don't ever say that! There is a way, Isabella, and I'm risking my life to make it happen!"
Isabella stared at him, surprised. She never saw Phineas so serious. "I've made a promise to myself that I would come back with you, and I always fulfill my promises. Mike didn't want to do anything that would bring me into this place because of the dangers, yet I convinced him to do it. I'm risking my life just to bring you back with me Isabella, and I'm not going to give up half-way!"
"Phineas…" Isabella walked away, looking to the ground. Phineas made a promise to bring her back, even if it means risking his own life for her. She knew that Mike could do incredible things through his own power. But could he help Phineas do what it's called impossible? Could he help him bring her back to life? "…I…"

Phineas approached her and put a finger on her chin to lift her head. He started to sing.

Isabella stared into his eyes.

Tears fell down her cheeks. Phineas wiped them with his fingers.

Isabella gasped and backed away. Phineas continued singing, still looking at her.

She put her hands over her mouth. The tears couldn't stop. Phineas approached her slowly.

A small smile appeared on her lips.

The risks he was taking to save her, and taboos that were being broken just to bring her back. She shook her head and walked away, trying to avoid his face. Phineas looked hurt, yet he continued.

She suddenly stopped. Turning around to see Phineas, she noticed him on his knees, looking at her. He smiled.

When the song ended, he got up and approached her. "Come with me Izzy. It's time to go back." he extended a hand, waiting.
Isabella looked at his hand for a few seconds. Cleaning her tears, she nodded and took it, smiling. "Yeah, let's return to our friends."
And the sky went black.
